* ?! G7 N- Y* p( p1 fThe hidden characters in Mortal Kombat II (Smoke, Noob Saibot, and Jade) always
seemed very cool to me. So awhile back I thought I could make a Pro Action Replay
cheat code to play as these characters. It was simple enough to make a code to
' A8 j+ t$ a( Omake you be any of the three. Try it out in an unpatched ROM. Use these codes:

7E2EF80E - Player 1 Is Smoke
7E2EF80F - Player 1 Is Noob Saibot
0 m, w) Q& ]/ ?2 G) o  ?$ M) A9 L& E: i7E2EF810 - Player 1 Is Jade

: r8 V) U4 Y$ U% V- g7 c3 _7 TSo now you see that while you can force the game to let you be one of these
badass characters, doing anything other than pressing Up, Down, High Punch, or
. F5 G4 H; a: m: `7 qblock will cause the game to crash. This isn't very fun. So I decided to look
into the problem and thus here is this patch.

Patch Details:
; s8 S4 a  y- \6 T5 hThis patch does alot of things to allow the game to run with a human controlling
any of the hidden characters (Smoke, Noob, Jade) without crashing. Below are some
& N! E4 `9 t7 c: c6 _! [6 Bkeypoints.

8 q, a; ?/ N9 T: Q2 p0 t5 k* All 3 characters can now move like every normal character without crashes.
& h! a. {+ f9 h& {* All 3 characters have Special moves.
* l' {4 Y3 r9 R- z* All 3 characters can now perform Finishing Moves and be Finished themselves.
7 |* {1 ~; g7 t7 G! ?, ^; k* All 3 characters have Fatality moves.
* All 3 characters have Friendship and Babality moves.
* All 3 characters are no longer stuck in Goro's Lair, the may appear anywhere.
* Playing 2 Player Versus with a Hidden Character no longer crashes the game.
* Added 'Secret Codes' to play as any Hidden Character for Player 1.

Secret Codes:
/ D& h( d# n% W- x" L" IThe secret codes are entered on the Character Selection Screen. You must enter
+ j8 a- W0 o  N* G1 ha combination of directional pad presses followed by SELECT to enter them. The
codes were made the way they are so they are very easy to enter. After hitting
+ T$ w8 U% J) p9 \1 T9 F: t  Z3 wSELECT you should press any of these buttons: A,B,X,Y,L,R. If you press another
* U, J; K! b. R. |- M2 }) ?direction on the directional pad after pressing Select and hearing the correct
+ R2 P8 s& h$ Q2 `8 m" ~; _0 Wcode sound effect, you will change your character back to a regular character.
Below are the buttons you should press. Note, You can exchange B for any of the
ones I listed above.

Play As Smoke - Right, Right, Right, Right, Right, Select, B

& Y4 z7 a+ S& I! A; U8 t( JFirst thing you should know is there aren't any endings for the new characters.
When you beat the game and it should show an ending story, the game will default
7 p3 N* h" d& T0 Ito Kung Lao's Ending.

/ B. Q6 c) b: R; J' v, i. nNext, in Versus Mode any Secret Character will use Kung Lao as their "Battle
Portrait" that appears on the screen that says BATTLE # and has each player's
character picture. In a later version if I can I will change this so each
character has their own unique portrait or they will all get a question mark
