The hidden characters in Mortal Kombat II (Smoke, Noob Saibot, and Jade) always$ R% i) @, s. `. y& [2 U
seemed very cool to me. So awhile back I thought I could make a Pro Action Replay9 P8 s( X/ _! |% V1 c9 m
cheat code to play as these characters. It was simple enough to make a code to
?7 D$ A1 _1 a1 ~* v+ w" amake you be any of the three. Try it out in an unpatched ROM. Use these codes:

block will cause the game to crash. This isn't very fun. So I decided to look3 S) H8 R! K1 J% C
into the problem and thus here is this patch.

This patch does alot of things to allow the game to run with a human controlling6 S% \3 @5 P' T1 ~
any of the hidden characters (Smoke, Noob, Jade) without crashing. Below are some
! j: l. G8 r. i+ u( m( a2 {# Okeypoints.- x1 ~; Y8 d4 ] K( V# f. U) A

* All 3 characters can now move like every normal character without crashes.6 @- u# R/ u) |% T6 }
* All 3 characters have Special moves.) t1 x$ L% v! }
* All 3 characters can now perform Finishing Moves and be Finished themselves.1 p# ?- H3 B$ c6 B+ H4 x# @
* All 3 characters have Fatality moves.
; b5 \* F# l2 f* All 3 characters have Friendship and Babality moves.

The secret codes are entered on the Character Selection Screen. You must enter

codes were made the way they are so they are very easy to enter. After hitting
$ U1 S a; v( [5 c$ ^" B( j& x! MSELECT you should press any of these buttons: A,B,X,Y,L,R. If you press another
0 X4 T( A4 _ gdirection on the directional pad after pressing Select and hearing the correct
# b2 q5 [; O1 @5 @1 Ucode sound effect, you will change your character back to a regular character.

Next, in Versus Mode any Secret Character will use Kung Lao as their "Battle

character picture. In a later version if I can I will change this so each
) @6 @& Q. l3 ~1 Kcharacter has their own unique portrait or they will all get a question mark
