Introduction:

8 Q! r4 n2 P& c) \  @The hidden characters in Mortal Kombat II (Smoke, Noob Saibot, and Jade) always
seemed very cool to me. So awhile back I thought I could make a Pro Action Replay
cheat code to play as these characters. It was simple enough to make a code to
make you be any of the three. Try it out in an unpatched ROM. Use these codes:

& H( \/ ^4 S( U) i  @7E2EF80E - Player 1 Is Smoke
7E2EF80F - Player 1 Is Noob Saibot
7E2EF810 - Player 1 Is Jade

So now you see that while you can force the game to let you be one of these
2 c' k/ {7 E  L6 r/ n0 `badass characters, doing anything other than pressing Up, Down, High Punch, or
0 O! E; S3 X; [block will cause the game to crash. This isn't very fun. So I decided to look
: k. t2 Z7 i" W. |9 {5 @" Winto the problem and thus here is this patch.

This patch does alot of things to allow the game to run with a human controlling
any of the hidden characters (Smoke, Noob, Jade) without crashing. Below are some
% T' H9 Y  ?8 N6 E# d* W( dkeypoints.
) r5 r4 P9 k1 b% _6 o1 M# e- n- V
: C+ Q, `5 \+ p: n, P& [( i+ Q' q, }* All 3 characters can now move like every normal character without crashes.
) m- O9 b( }  z9 _# K9 Q0 `' b* All 3 characters have Special moves.
( ]/ m4 W$ P2 J( x" w* All 3 characters can now perform Finishing Moves and be Finished themselves.
+ j. Y' A; I; [* z) D6 ^0 [* All 3 characters have Fatality moves.
& `7 y$ ~" X& K8 k/ e* All 3 characters have Friendship and Babality moves.
( a+ E. I- b+ p: i7 d* All 3 characters are no longer stuck in Goro's Lair, the may appear anywhere.
* Playing 2 Player Versus with a Hidden Character no longer crashes the game.
* Added 'Secret Codes' to play as any Hidden Character for Player 1.

The secret codes are entered on the Character Selection Screen. You must enter
3 B, j: I% Q- O! A6 O' y$ ua combination of directional pad presses followed by SELECT to enter them. The
- {$ W5 b4 @+ k" Xcodes were made the way they are so they are very easy to enter. After hitting
SELECT you should press any of these buttons: A,B,X,Y,L,R. If you press another
direction on the directional pad after pressing Select and hearing the correct
code sound effect, you will change your character back to a regular character.
# @5 i! K/ n" a- k; X( c/ r7 N% c4 hBelow are the buttons you should press. Note, You can exchange B for any of the
ones I listed above.

Play As Smoke - Right, Right, Right, Right, Right, Select, B

Final Notes:
2 t# o0 g! ]" c2 _3 f' sFirst thing you should know is there aren't any endings for the new characters.
When you beat the game and it should show an ending story, the game will default
& Q, Z. a# \/ ^- p5 Z9 g# tto Kung Lao's Ending.

Next, in Versus Mode any Secret Character will use Kung Lao as their "Battle
Portrait" that appears on the screen that says BATTLE # and has each player's
character picture. In a later version if I can I will change this so each
& \  N3 |" ~5 R+ }3 t, v8 Zcharacter has their own unique portrait or they will all get a question mark
9 m5 C% d" I7 y5 H0 ]7 f& Tstyle portrait like the tournament ladder has.
