The hidden characters in Mortal Kombat II (Smoke, Noob Saibot, and Jade) always
7 ]) a) v1 O& oseemed very cool to me. So awhile back I thought I could make a Pro Action Replay
2 X. a, Z* W5 z0 ]& Y/ Scheat code to play as these characters. It was simple enough to make a code to/ {8 V- W: A/ L' J! ]
make you be any of the three. Try it out in an unpatched ROM. Use these codes:

So now you see that while you can force the game to let you be one of these. I5 Y% g- e. {" i8 |) {4 w1 f
badass characters, doing anything other than pressing Up, Down, High Punch, or! @: Q) [1 w0 A* e3 _
block will cause the game to crash. This isn't very fun. So I decided to look
( Y+ u: E7 c% V- x% Ninto the problem and thus here is this patch.6 s$ }) F h7 j2 B

This patch does alot of things to allow the game to run with a human controlling) ]( R; `3 k3 Z- W5 p$ z/ j
any of the hidden characters (Smoke, Noob, Jade) without crashing. Below are some* r3 N( a3 n1 [$ ^6 W6 }$ l1 L
keypoints.

7 J9 C M/ Z1 B5 g$ [* Q, n& H3 R* All 3 characters can now move like every normal character without crashes.
% o8 p9 @7 G1 T: ?: V* All 3 characters have Special moves.
: y$ g1 A0 r% d* All 3 characters can now perform Finishing Moves and be Finished themselves.! `+ U7 R/ X; b
* All 3 characters have Fatality moves.
1 L8 T3 U9 ?) g$ y1 h, h. s* All 3 characters have Friendship and Babality moves.
) u! p& U4 M2 A+ E* All 3 characters are no longer stuck in Goro's Lair, the may appear anywhere.& V9 b5 N; B3 c
* Playing 2 Player Versus with a Hidden Character no longer crashes the game.- c# T8 n7 H# U( c* |) i
* Added 'Secret Codes' to play as any Hidden Character for Player 1.2 \2 w' J6 ~# z$ \7 n1 N8 \

The secret codes are entered on the Character Selection Screen. You must enter. a: r, M* k- F! Q, P
a combination of directional pad presses followed by SELECT to enter them. The' E$ l* K2 N9 g) T
codes were made the way they are so they are very easy to enter. After hitting
% c: G6 r/ c/ wSELECT you should press any of these buttons: A,B,X,Y,L,R. If you press another8 \7 m8 o; V, h, G. }
direction on the directional pad after pressing Select and hearing the correct8 f8 L8 z4 g% V
code sound effect, you will change your character back to a regular character.
: j! @# n2 C& [ Q, MBelow are the buttons you should press. Note, You can exchange B for any of the6 X/ Q# y2 N0 N( y, e6 S5 I5 `

When you beat the game and it should show an ending story, the game will default/ }/ u, A: z% p) [0 S) A- ]
to Kung Lao's Ending.7 }6 d: R. g$ Y* f0 U5 g

Next, in Versus Mode any Secret Character will use Kung Lao as their "Battle5 v9 k$ H4 @ e, h! v) t8 m
Portrait" that appears on the screen that says BATTLE # and has each player's& A# [4 c) S2 Y- v
character picture. In a later version if I can I will change this so each
- c% `$ I' v' ^8 r, L! I8 V! Ycharacter has their own unique portrait or they will all get a question mark K6 E5 O, Z3 U) C0 [
style portrait like the tournament ladder has.
