Introduction:

The hidden characters in Mortal Kombat II (Smoke, Noob Saibot, and Jade) always
$ Y! _$ l/ K: x, q! {7 E* C& eseemed very cool to me. So awhile back I thought I could make a Pro Action Replay
$ f4 J) p, j, D3 Echeat code to play as these characters. It was simple enough to make a code to
& v( V4 I0 K, B# x4 nmake you be any of the three. Try it out in an unpatched ROM. Use these codes:
# a- ?# d* q, Q8 C
3 c7 q+ P6 x( f8 `0 y7E2EF80E - Player 1 Is Smoke
7E2EF80F - Player 1 Is Noob Saibot

So now you see that while you can force the game to let you be one of these
' J- ?1 o0 G( x1 c$ Ybadass characters, doing anything other than pressing Up, Down, High Punch, or
/ K2 s2 L9 v: ^. b! Lblock will cause the game to crash. This isn't very fun. So I decided to look
. Q" ?. o5 d, t) p/ d" [into the problem and thus here is this patch.

This patch does alot of things to allow the game to run with a human controlling
any of the hidden characters (Smoke, Noob, Jade) without crashing. Below are some
keypoints.

* All 3 characters can now move like every normal character without crashes.
! I6 U) b7 x  I2 {) ]* All 3 characters have Special moves.
# H, s8 x3 J! {* All 3 characters can now perform Finishing Moves and be Finished themselves.
* All 3 characters have Fatality moves.
* All 3 characters have Friendship and Babality moves.
* All 3 characters are no longer stuck in Goro's Lair, the may appear anywhere.
' w( z! J* ]$ b& Q2 M8 h* Playing 2 Player Versus with a Hidden Character no longer crashes the game.
* Added 'Secret Codes' to play as any Hidden Character for Player 1.

: ^6 f& E1 N/ l/ p6 BThe secret codes are entered on the Character Selection Screen. You must enter
a combination of directional pad presses followed by SELECT to enter them. The
codes were made the way they are so they are very easy to enter. After hitting
# g% n# }: y6 I* ]4 `. U% h' ySELECT you should press any of these buttons: A,B,X,Y,L,R. If you press another
direction on the directional pad after pressing Select and hearing the correct
code sound effect, you will change your character back to a regular character.
! H( `# ]% Z. O$ [3 ]Below are the buttons you should press. Note, You can exchange B for any of the
' Y( c9 d) E+ Cones I listed above.

Play As Smoke - Right, Right, Right, Right, Right, Select, B

2 S1 A+ M2 s& Y5 \& V+ G! AFirst thing you should know is there aren't any endings for the new characters.
5 o8 c- r% l  x9 K5 ZWhen you beat the game and it should show an ending story, the game will default
to Kung Lao's Ending.
* I& e* `1 ?# H( n1 s$ n
Next, in Versus Mode any Secret Character will use Kung Lao as their "Battle
Portrait" that appears on the screen that says BATTLE # and has each player's
character picture. In a later version if I can I will change this so each
character has their own unique portrait or they will all get a question mark
style portrait like the tournament ladder has.
