If you were an arcade urchin back in the 80's then surely you remember the splash made by the introduction of laserdisk based games. Back then they seemed light years ahead of their more conventional arcade brethren as the heavily pixellated graphics of the day couldn't compare with the laserdisk presentation... of course the gameplay itself was limited by the fact that the graphics were "pre-rendered" but man the games sure were pretty to watch. The most memorable entries in this genre, Dragon's Lair and Space Ace, were animated by ex-Disney dude Don Bluth and it shows as they're easily film quality. Due to their maintenance costs and design limitations, however, laserdisk games never made it out of the 80's... but thankfully though the modern wonder of emulation these classics are available once again! These games have been ported to various mediums with varying degrees of success but one can argue that the original is still the best, as such I present to you this package containing the Daphne laserdisk arcade emulator and the games Dragon's Lair and Space Ace in their pristine, original laserdisk format... pre-loaded, pre-configured (mostly), and ready to rumble. Enjoy with much double happiness please!

Please note:
This package includes Daphne v.0.99.7, this is not the latest but IMHO this version works much better than the newest as the new version changes the way the video clips are used (at least from what I can tell). Also, it includes the required ROMs and framefiles for both DL and SA, to be specific it's Dragon's Lair US Enhancement 2.1 and Space Ace US Enhancement 1.0... basically these versions boast a more logical and reorganized room order and they also utilize footage included in the special editions of their respective laserdisks. There are four steps you'll need to follow to get the games to work after you decompress this archive to a folder:

• Run the install.bat in the Daphne root directory, this will register the OCX files required by the DaphneLoader configuration option
• Go to the Laserdisc tab of the configuration screen in DaphneLoader for each game, then specify the location for the framefile for each game, the framefiles themselves are located in the framefile subdirectory under the Daphne root directory, make sure Player Type is set to "Virtual LDP (MPEG/Ogg)" too
• On the same Laserdisk tab, click the MPEG Locator >>> button and browse to the video files for each game, they are located in the ace and lair subdirectories under the mpeg subdirectory in the Daphne root directory
• In the actual framefiles themselves (ace_dvdrom.txt and lair_dvdrom.txt under the framefile subdir), edit the first line of each file to display the path to the video file directory for that framefile's respective game, i.e. C:\Daphne\mpeg\lair for DL

After this you should be good to go, good luck intrepid gamer!
