Use this patch on the US Version 1.1 ROM with NO header in non-interleaved format.
That means if the patch doesn't work for you, use a tool like UCON64 to convert the

The hidden characters in Mortal Kombat II (Smoke, Noob Saibot, and Jade) always
seemed very cool to me. So awhile back I thought I could make a Pro Action Replay
2 b) X5 I  P( H$ C( j6 N/ pcheat code to play as these characters. It was simple enough to make a code to
( ?# n! Q4 Y3 ~% r2 K0 o& a; {. X+ Fmake you be any of the three. Try it out in an unpatched ROM. Use these codes:

, A' M9 X( J4 ]' x: q% o7E2EF80E - Player 1 Is Smoke
/ j0 V9 x. T& d  F6 W7E2EF80F - Player 1 Is Noob Saibot
6 x% W- H6 M2 i+ B6 H7E2EF810 - Player 1 Is Jade

So go give that a try, I'll wait here till you get back...

badass characters, doing anything other than pressing Up, Down, High Punch, or
block will cause the game to crash. This isn't very fun. So I decided to look
into the problem and thus here is this patch.

Patch Details:
/ @4 G- H- A# X7 _This patch does alot of things to allow the game to run with a human controlling
any of the hidden characters (Smoke, Noob, Jade) without crashing. Below are some
keypoints.
5 f  A1 X# [$ r
* All 3 characters can now move like every normal character without crashes.
: a/ P1 Y, Z! {* All 3 characters have Special moves.
2 Y& h6 l- b' i" E0 `7 v* All 3 characters can now perform Finishing Moves and be Finished themselves.
4 c7 {8 |: f/ H* All 3 characters have Fatality moves.
* All 3 characters have Friendship and Babality moves.
8 }1 s4 R* v! t* All 3 characters are no longer stuck in Goro's Lair, the may appear anywhere.
6 V5 S) u* ]; P6 g" l) k* Playing 2 Player Versus with a Hidden Character no longer crashes the game.
. H) {9 {; y2 a* Added 'Secret Codes' to play as any Hidden Character for Player 1.

% `8 Z" a- L& Y; p0 O! K8 USecret Codes:
2 Z5 k( Q2 r' e1 R) Y% jThe secret codes are entered on the Character Selection Screen. You must enter
' }2 \3 p7 X4 Ya combination of directional pad presses followed by SELECT to enter them. The
codes were made the way they are so they are very easy to enter. After hitting
4 I% K. O9 s' T; i- |SELECT you should press any of these buttons: A,B,X,Y,L,R. If you press another
  U' {/ _" T4 ?* y! ^* ?9 [direction on the directional pad after pressing Select and hearing the correct
code sound effect, you will change your character back to a regular character.
Below are the buttons you should press. Note, You can exchange B for any of the
ones I listed above.


Play As Smoke - Right, Right, Right, Right, Right, Select, B

& B; B/ t) Z( x/ }) Y! ~
Play As Noob - Left, Left, Left, Left, Left, Select, B

2 Q, Q7 A3 p& l, ~$ ]  p
% q% X8 N$ }( Y! y8 ?Play As Jade - Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Select, B

Final Notes:
+ i# p! [- Z& ^2 ]. u: ?" nFirst thing you should know is there aren't any endings for the new characters.
- {: ^5 k% u6 W. nWhen you beat the game and it should show an ending story, the game will default
5 f. p& E8 c/ ^/ yto Kung Lao's Ending.

Next, in Versus Mode any Secret Character will use Kung Lao as their "Battle
Portrait" that appears on the screen that says BATTLE # and has each player's
# y' L( x& O& n& ~- {, ?6 {character picture. In a later version if I can I will change this so each
character has their own unique portrait or they will all get a question mark
  W% s4 q9 l/ i3 I# i5 u% Tstyle portrait like the tournament ladder has.
