The hidden characters in Mortal Kombat II (Smoke, Noob Saibot, and Jade) always
8 H2 m0 V" h3 v8 |: ?0 n6 B6 J8 [seemed very cool to me. So awhile back I thought I could make a Pro Action Replay
cheat code to play as these characters. It was simple enough to make a code to
9 @7 @4 V! R: P5 ?% rmake you be any of the three. Try it out in an unpatched ROM. Use these codes:

7E2EF80E - Player 1 Is Smoke
7E2EF80F - Player 1 Is Noob Saibot
& G6 ^( X+ @% k6 M" V$ M7E2EF810 - Player 1 Is Jade

So go give that a try, I'll wait here till you get back...


So now you see that while you can force the game to let you be one of these
6 E  p9 U/ A. k5 T. kbadass characters, doing anything other than pressing Up, Down, High Punch, or
block will cause the game to crash. This isn't very fun. So I decided to look
into the problem and thus here is this patch.

' c; Y* K1 D2 R' w- pPatch Details:
This patch does alot of things to allow the game to run with a human controlling
any of the hidden characters (Smoke, Noob, Jade) without crashing. Below are some
keypoints.
" S! Q! Y& n1 \. y
* N+ R: q, A8 X7 F1 J2 i- f* All 3 characters can now move like every normal character without crashes.
* All 3 characters have Special moves.
# F! b) n) b5 ~8 h; `* v* All 3 characters can now perform Finishing Moves and be Finished themselves.
. x) f$ G9 l0 Q: a0 o0 Q& a7 e* Z* All 3 characters have Fatality moves.
. n; j- ~+ G0 r& l  ~3 i5 ~. j$ U7 J* All 3 characters have Friendship and Babality moves.
* All 3 characters are no longer stuck in Goro's Lair, the may appear anywhere.
* Playing 2 Player Versus with a Hidden Character no longer crashes the game.
1 w* Z6 y0 {: p: C9 y4 ]* Added 'Secret Codes' to play as any Hidden Character for Player 1.

Secret Codes:
' a6 u" ?/ P+ t$ B: q' C4 xThe secret codes are entered on the Character Selection Screen. You must enter
a combination of directional pad presses followed by SELECT to enter them. The
0 C% g) _& A) q5 gcodes were made the way they are so they are very easy to enter. After hitting
1 K1 @: P2 {0 w3 i( N6 R+ V) eSELECT you should press any of these buttons: A,B,X,Y,L,R. If you press another
direction on the directional pad after pressing Select and hearing the correct
  O, m2 J9 ?9 v2 |/ Pcode sound effect, you will change your character back to a regular character.
Below are the buttons you should press. Note, You can exchange B for any of the
! z& E" ]4 p4 |3 vones I listed above.


Play As Smoke - Right, Right, Right, Right, Right, Select, B
1 Y$ q: k0 W* M: z1 k

! c' F) u$ C6 r; [* P, kPlay As Noob - Left, Left, Left, Left, Left, Select, B

Play As Jade - Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Select, B

Final Notes:
First thing you should know is there aren't any endings for the new characters.
/ Z- K$ S6 J; L. iWhen you beat the game and it should show an ending story, the game will default
9 K8 `& s0 n4 C0 U/ Pto Kung Lao's Ending.

0 r2 K  c2 a6 }! dNext, in Versus Mode any Secret Character will use Kung Lao as their "Battle
/ j! K" b; p; Z8 ^Portrait" that appears on the screen that says BATTLE # and has each player's
character picture. In a later version if I can I will change this so each
0 N3 W' ^/ ], e4 F0 Bcharacter has their own unique portrait or they will all get a question mark
2 T" w( B2 @4 o4 c- g2 B6 ^style portrait like the tournament ladder has.
