The hidden characters in Mortal Kombat II (Smoke, Noob Saibot, and Jade) always
- J+ o$ `, U( j; j5 W+ s6 U. L. q5 ]seemed very cool to me. So awhile back I thought I could make a Pro Action Replay
; U9 E0 Q3 L' Z' x& t" M+ Mcheat code to play as these characters. It was simple enough to make a code to
" n0 A5 ~+ F" \- a* J; b6 `make you be any of the three. Try it out in an unpatched ROM. Use these codes:

7E2EF80E - Player 1 Is Smoke
7E2EF80F - Player 1 Is Noob Saibot
% J! s+ j4 k( f) q. i/ ]7E2EF810 - Player 1 Is Jade
% g( K3 e9 p; I7 z: X$ h
So go give that a try, I'll wait here till you get back...

So now you see that while you can force the game to let you be one of these
0 E# M" a/ Q2 q( obadass characters, doing anything other than pressing Up, Down, High Punch, or
block will cause the game to crash. This isn't very fun. So I decided to look
' Y& Q1 q0 \5 v" u: t- L6 f/ L: Einto the problem and thus here is this patch.

This patch does alot of things to allow the game to run with a human controlling
any of the hidden characters (Smoke, Noob, Jade) without crashing. Below are some
keypoints.
# K+ E) |! t- k  _5 ^
! J* u, G+ r( C. @& V7 c; z* All 3 characters can now move like every normal character without crashes.
& P0 r: e/ s0 @" p0 d/ A* All 3 characters have Special moves.
* All 3 characters can now perform Finishing Moves and be Finished themselves.
* All 3 characters have Fatality moves.
3 j4 x4 v# S4 ^+ r* All 3 characters have Friendship and Babality moves.
7 p* f5 j( K7 @3 M4 w. E- l5 L* All 3 characters are no longer stuck in Goro's Lair, the may appear anywhere.
* Playing 2 Player Versus with a Hidden Character no longer crashes the game.
( h0 C# b0 f) @5 s5 j* q3 G8 C* Added 'Secret Codes' to play as any Hidden Character for Player 1.

Secret Codes:
The secret codes are entered on the Character Selection Screen. You must enter
a combination of directional pad presses followed by SELECT to enter them. The
% B: h2 R! r% Hcodes were made the way they are so they are very easy to enter. After hitting
; N8 h# |& `8 z* d4 w6 eSELECT you should press any of these buttons: A,B,X,Y,L,R. If you press another
direction on the directional pad after pressing Select and hearing the correct
7 \$ Z" h6 a) Q! e; Z) I+ A1 D1 Ycode sound effect, you will change your character back to a regular character.
Below are the buttons you should press. Note, You can exchange B for any of the
, Z2 S5 l6 s3 wones I listed above.

4 L% {1 \8 D0 @Play As Smoke - Right, Right, Right, Right, Right, Select, B

Play As Jade - Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Select, B

- m$ K) K' G; v. J/ `; R. K) RNext, in Versus Mode any Secret Character will use Kung Lao as their "Battle
) F! u5 b: f- y* H; \& \" `# S. FPortrait" that appears on the screen that says BATTLE # and has each player's
# p/ z& S4 G' a/ Icharacter picture. In a later version if I can I will change this so each
+ t$ c( E2 B7 N$ g% J! u7 G( Ycharacter has their own unique portrait or they will all get a question mark
style portrait like the tournament ladder has.
