The hidden characters in Mortal Kombat II (Smoke, Noob Saibot, and Jade) always
: ^% B& w3 L4 q( f) P2 dseemed very cool to me. So awhile back I thought I could make a Pro Action Replay
& C0 r& ?# l2 Echeat code to play as these characters. It was simple enough to make a code to
& B- k9 V" y7 o2 D d( amake you be any of the three. Try it out in an unpatched ROM. Use these codes:

So now you see that while you can force the game to let you be one of these8 o5 W& F% L( L
badass characters, doing anything other than pressing Up, Down, High Punch, or
. w% W) K* P% Z' x3 lblock will cause the game to crash. This isn't very fun. So I decided to look
6 j4 k0 C% _+ o7 u2 dinto the problem and thus here is this patch.

Patch Details:
& k4 d. K# o% O3 A: s8 y, pThis patch does alot of things to allow the game to run with a human controlling
$ T+ c4 D/ J8 d7 |& p: ]any of the hidden characters (Smoke, Noob, Jade) without crashing. Below are some* p. l9 l" o1 I- q
keypoints.
0 V$ ^2 _+ E& W! r l$ Z
7 F+ L8 }6 ]% K. R* All 3 characters can now move like every normal character without crashes.
, S- Q, R7 V5 E, o6 n* All 3 characters have Special moves.
- z! i: q7 |! a2 K* All 3 characters can now perform Finishing Moves and be Finished themselves.. Z$ P! _7 |7 g& i& s3 i: L& P3 X
* All 3 characters have Fatality moves.
) E2 F6 c1 G7 q B# g* All 3 characters have Friendship and Babality moves.
]' t3 L7 m& Y: ~0 N* All 3 characters are no longer stuck in Goro's Lair, the may appear anywhere.& ^8 R2 k* `$ K
* Playing 2 Player Versus with a Hidden Character no longer crashes the game.
4 u# Z$ g: z2 y3 h* Added 'Secret Codes' to play as any Hidden Character for Player 1.

The secret codes are entered on the Character Selection Screen. You must enter
% j5 r, b5 o7 V" d7 H. e$ Wa combination of directional pad presses followed by SELECT to enter them. The O3 s8 x) @+ Z5 X+ [2 q0 ^) R" `; Z
codes were made the way they are so they are very easy to enter. After hitting, B8 H/ X \8 O2 t- G @7 e$ v
SELECT you should press any of these buttons: A,B,X,Y,L,R. If you press another
: G8 k& C$ k u& hdirection on the directional pad after pressing Select and hearing the correct3 c3 e7 u9 w9 \) t7 Y8 p* ]
code sound effect, you will change your character back to a regular character.
# ^. H5 o) p& C. o' A" v) cBelow are the buttons you should press. Note, You can exchange B for any of the5 l# j2 E) K* E# S2 K+ a, b

Next, in Versus Mode any Secret Character will use Kung Lao as their "Battle* W4 U U9 e$ g l2 I
Portrait" that appears on the screen that says BATTLE # and has each player's
: n- V9 u7 o! q% u2 F1 {0 Jcharacter picture. In a later version if I can I will change this so each. @- ?/ S* b4 i/ K+ A5 l) N
character has their own unique portrait or they will all get a question mark# q. j' h; G2 i
