Introduction:

The hidden characters in Mortal Kombat II (Smoke, Noob Saibot, and Jade) always
0 ], g3 F) N' o+ }1 [# Y' X) ]; _6 Fseemed very cool to me. So awhile back I thought I could make a Pro Action Replay
  m. P. F6 ^# q) L6 L. Q7 Bcheat code to play as these characters. It was simple enough to make a code to
make you be any of the three. Try it out in an unpatched ROM. Use these codes:

5 }8 ]4 F8 r, j4 D, L7E2EF80E - Player 1 Is Smoke
7E2EF80F - Player 1 Is Noob Saibot
7E2EF810 - Player 1 Is Jade
) p& V! x8 t+ r( T
6 O+ [$ P: F" r' V- k9 o: NSo go give that a try, I'll wait here till you get back...

block will cause the game to crash. This isn't very fun. So I decided to look

; H& C& x. K3 Q8 iThis patch does alot of things to allow the game to run with a human controlling
7 T6 d& Z- O- M# |% _, cany of the hidden characters (Smoke, Noob, Jade) without crashing. Below are some
! H! d1 n8 K7 C$ @keypoints.

* All 3 characters can now move like every normal character without crashes.
* All 3 characters have Special moves.
1 @2 T7 z3 C* C! ^+ ^4 ]/ E) y; n9 h* All 3 characters can now perform Finishing Moves and be Finished themselves.
5 ?7 ?9 ~6 ], i) Q# k3 B( e* All 3 characters have Fatality moves.
* All 3 characters have Friendship and Babality moves.
: J5 Y' M/ J$ X( r5 `" i: M, A* All 3 characters are no longer stuck in Goro's Lair, the may appear anywhere.
' @1 i6 B0 c* y' y* Playing 2 Player Versus with a Hidden Character no longer crashes the game.
4 E6 R) y" r+ x: n$ r, G1 O: d* Added 'Secret Codes' to play as any Hidden Character for Player 1.

  b1 i; _2 y% ESecret Codes:
The secret codes are entered on the Character Selection Screen. You must enter
3 d; r7 S2 f! M) @/ ta combination of directional pad presses followed by SELECT to enter them. The
8 e# E& k8 A2 D& U% f( ^codes were made the way they are so they are very easy to enter. After hitting
  D8 o' Z8 ]# YSELECT you should press any of these buttons: A,B,X,Y,L,R. If you press another
direction on the directional pad after pressing Select and hearing the correct
9 t! O6 v: h' c9 P0 ccode sound effect, you will change your character back to a regular character.
Below are the buttons you should press. Note, You can exchange B for any of the
: k7 ]' U+ r# Rones I listed above.

Play As Smoke - Right, Right, Right, Right, Right, Select, B

7 }' L3 I. l9 w4 O% `$ ~% RNext, in Versus Mode any Secret Character will use Kung Lao as their "Battle
' i8 ]! |5 A! JPortrait" that appears on the screen that says BATTLE # and has each player's
character picture. In a later version if I can I will change this so each
  @" s3 n# \, B! v6 w' pcharacter has their own unique portrait or they will all get a question mark
style portrait like the tournament ladder has.
