That means if the patch doesn't work for you, use a tool like UCON64 to convert the

' {2 P' ?, @8 `5 {The hidden characters in Mortal Kombat II (Smoke, Noob Saibot, and Jade) always
seemed very cool to me. So awhile back I thought I could make a Pro Action Replay
+ Z  F4 v, ~" \! ~8 @cheat code to play as these characters. It was simple enough to make a code to
% X; G' O  B* l% n) w9 Dmake you be any of the three. Try it out in an unpatched ROM. Use these codes:
$ f% [+ W  r* Y
7E2EF80E - Player 1 Is Smoke
7E2EF80F - Player 1 Is Noob Saibot
7E2EF810 - Player 1 Is Jade

So go give that a try, I'll wait here till you get back...


2 s# E3 ?8 Y1 t8 ?% ~So now you see that while you can force the game to let you be one of these
! L) C% N5 m* c2 _badass characters, doing anything other than pressing Up, Down, High Punch, or
block will cause the game to crash. This isn't very fun. So I decided to look
; P$ W' B# e3 p9 x) D$ @into the problem and thus here is this patch.
, C0 l; {" c$ O) k- u) v

This patch does alot of things to allow the game to run with a human controlling
any of the hidden characters (Smoke, Noob, Jade) without crashing. Below are some
keypoints.

4 i  K. C6 z5 C& |* H6 R* All 3 characters can now move like every normal character without crashes.
* All 3 characters have Special moves.
5 B7 c5 {$ J$ b6 d* All 3 characters can now perform Finishing Moves and be Finished themselves.
* N) z; l# ~: `. p* All 3 characters have Fatality moves.
* All 3 characters have Friendship and Babality moves.
3 v# W5 Y) d$ z2 w" B5 f* All 3 characters are no longer stuck in Goro's Lair, the may appear anywhere.
* Playing 2 Player Versus with a Hidden Character no longer crashes the game.
* Added 'Secret Codes' to play as any Hidden Character for Player 1.

, J* g5 p5 p  g% m9 b; dSecret Codes:
* I$ a. X) K& @3 k% WThe secret codes are entered on the Character Selection Screen. You must enter
a combination of directional pad presses followed by SELECT to enter them. The
& Z7 ^2 ?/ a5 K6 e# Z3 E( Wcodes were made the way they are so they are very easy to enter. After hitting
' i2 q+ B: T# Y1 W( t4 h9 C+ Z7 PSELECT you should press any of these buttons: A,B,X,Y,L,R. If you press another
direction on the directional pad after pressing Select and hearing the correct
code sound effect, you will change your character back to a regular character.
( i9 o1 ]9 J3 I- Y0 X3 MBelow are the buttons you should press. Note, You can exchange B for any of the
" _' \) W' I; u, K  tones I listed above.

, ^3 ~3 e/ w! R* e: SFirst thing you should know is there aren't any endings for the new characters.
6 D" K' W1 l& J4 cWhen you beat the game and it should show an ending story, the game will default
  t, x2 z0 R% Oto Kung Lao's Ending.
' P2 Z0 j, |+ G3 _, y/ [( B' `
3 t* d) _$ p" F7 T) DNext, in Versus Mode any Secret Character will use Kung Lao as their "Battle
( E. `7 q8 S- G$ S  GPortrait" that appears on the screen that says BATTLE # and has each player's
& F: W" W6 F% q" xcharacter picture. In a later version if I can I will change this so each
character has their own unique portrait or they will all get a question mark
- i# Y9 v, O7 D: L* i/ M3 Hstyle portrait like the tournament ladder has.
