The hidden characters in Mortal Kombat II (Smoke, Noob Saibot, and Jade) always
" }3 B! \" v% A. l& sseemed very cool to me. So awhile back I thought I could make a Pro Action Replay
cheat code to play as these characters. It was simple enough to make a code to
, F$ d* {, i7 E' imake you be any of the three. Try it out in an unpatched ROM. Use these codes:

7E2EF80E - Player 1 Is Smoke
7E2EF80F - Player 1 Is Noob Saibot
7E2EF810 - Player 1 Is Jade

So go give that a try, I'll wait here till you get back...

: f  U7 j6 j* H; Q' `So now you see that while you can force the game to let you be one of these
* m4 v5 t+ Q8 M" y0 Y2 c' Ibadass characters, doing anything other than pressing Up, Down, High Punch, or
block will cause the game to crash. This isn't very fun. So I decided to look
into the problem and thus here is this patch.

& D6 n2 H. O6 c# J2 p/ B$ KPatch Details:
This patch does alot of things to allow the game to run with a human controlling
% o2 d! z! W1 U8 i7 ~* c* i7 Iany of the hidden characters (Smoke, Noob, Jade) without crashing. Below are some
keypoints.
1 \  s6 v9 k& @+ _
* All 3 characters can now move like every normal character without crashes.
& X5 j- }/ i  C* All 3 characters have Special moves.
& [9 Y; F2 }) b- m* All 3 characters can now perform Finishing Moves and be Finished themselves.
" S8 t4 C/ ?! x( H& k" \5 F* All 3 characters have Fatality moves.
* All 3 characters have Friendship and Babality moves.
* All 3 characters are no longer stuck in Goro's Lair, the may appear anywhere.
* Playing 2 Player Versus with a Hidden Character no longer crashes the game.
+ F$ X$ N' P/ {# h! E* Added 'Secret Codes' to play as any Hidden Character for Player 1.
+ m8 {8 ~, v% X2 h7 G; K# R
: d9 H( |2 o2 `4 l( ~Secret Codes:
1 i, X8 T- h# Z8 m5 g1 `3 t1 @The secret codes are entered on the Character Selection Screen. You must enter
a combination of directional pad presses followed by SELECT to enter them. The
0 Q! h: _# X6 y& i  S: j& h0 Rcodes were made the way they are so they are very easy to enter. After hitting
SELECT you should press any of these buttons: A,B,X,Y,L,R. If you press another
direction on the directional pad after pressing Select and hearing the correct
code sound effect, you will change your character back to a regular character.
Below are the buttons you should press. Note, You can exchange B for any of the
ones I listed above.

Final Notes:
! o' n8 D) i2 s; p7 K% ~+ MFirst thing you should know is there aren't any endings for the new characters.
When you beat the game and it should show an ending story, the game will default
to Kung Lao's Ending.

: ]& ^0 `6 ^. I- s, WNext, in Versus Mode any Secret Character will use Kung Lao as their "Battle
' z$ Z2 ?2 y& P1 z( n+ e& q" G, wPortrait" that appears on the screen that says BATTLE # and has each player's
6 P2 Y4 O8 e" k) Y- bcharacter picture. In a later version if I can I will change this so each
character has their own unique portrait or they will all get a question mark
. `: V9 z, [9 Mstyle portrait like the tournament ladder has.
